Caesar Rodney holds off a late Tech comeback for the tough road win
GEORGETOWN, Del.- Behind two goals from Lyod Coutilien, the Caesar Rodney soccer team moved to 7-2 with the 3-2 win over Sussex Tech. The Ravens fall to 5-3-1 with the loss.
It was all Riders to begin this one. Just five minutes into the game Loyd Coutilien would get a cross and tap it into the goal. 35 minutes later, the Riders would net another after a penalty in the box. Spencer Ott with a successful penalty kick to give CR the 2-0 lead at the half. One bright spot for the Ravens in the first half was keeper Jodi Johnson, 11 saves in the game on 13 shots to keep the Ravens in this one.
In the second half, Tech would get on the board. On a free position kick, Cody Coleman got the header to go from ten yards out to cut the Rider lead to just one. In the 74th minute, Coutilien out the moves on the defender and got the goal to go to extend the lead back to two. The Ravens would get another goal, a penalty kick from Patrick Short but it was too little too late. The Riders get their fourth win in a row, 3-2 over Sussex Tech.
The Riders return to action when they host Sussex Academy next Tuesday at 5:30. Tech will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Dagsboro to take on Indian River.
