Burn Ban extended in Wicomico Co.

WICOMICO CO., Md. – Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver has extended the Burn Ban in Wicomico County.

The ban, which was issued on October 3rd, was originally set to expire today. However, the ban has now been extended until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15th.

Culver noted that with the dry conditions expected to continue into the foreseeable future, he plans to recommend that the county extend the ban indefinitely until weather conditions warrant a re-assessment by the Burn Ban Committee.

All outdoor burning is prohibited with the exception of gas and charcoal grills, campfires at Roaring Point and Sandy Hill campgrounds (must be monitored at all times), recreational campfires on private property and public campgrounds, and the staging of professional fireworks displays.

Citizens may report burn ban violations by calling 410-548-4860 during regular business hours, or the Sheriff’s Office after hours at 410-548-4891.
