Berlin Police conducting death investigation

BERLIN, Md. – Police are investigating after the body of a Berlin man was found in an area ditch Friday afternoon.

According to police, they received a call at around 3:18 p.m. regarding a deceased person in a ditch behind the Rite Aid located at 10119 Old Ocean City Boulevard, Berlin. It was reported that the person was walking their dog in the area when the dog was drawn to the ditch, where the body was located.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate, and detectives found a wallet on scene that indicated the identity of the deceased person as 41-year-old Jonathan Michael Driessen.

Officials say no unusual signs of trauma were found upon review of the body. It was confirmed that Driessen had been missing for an extended period of time.

The body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy and cause of death. Police say no foul play is suspected at this time.
