2019 Governor’s Challenge Full Schedule

SALISBURY, Md- The 2019 Governor’s Challenge will run from December 26th thru December 31 in Salisbury, Maryland and surrounding areas. In it’s 39th year, the Governor’s Challenge is the largest holiday basketball tournament in the nation.

This year’s tournament boasts over 120 teams, including over 30 squads that call Maryland’s Eastern Shore and lower Delaware home.

The DMVelite Showcase games are a collection of matchups between the tourney’s top rated teams. This year, Wicomico (MD) and Dover (DE)  represent Delmarva in the Showcase brackets. The Tribe and the Senators, who both lost in respective state title games a year ago, will face off on December 26th at 6:45pm at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center on Court 1.

Also on day one San Felipe, who comes to the tournament as one of the most historic programs from the island of Puerto Rico, squares off with Piedmont Classical of North Carolina at UMES.

On Day 2, San Felipe will take on Surge Christian of  Florida. Surge is a 1st year program with a ton of Division I talent, including Antwan Burnett, a three-star shooting guard, who also doubles as a three-star wide receiver with offers from the likes of Alabama, LSU, Georgia.
The 27th also brings in three favorites returning to the tournament, Father Henry Carr (Canada), Legacy Early College (SC), and Neumann-Gorretti. Legacy finished top 25 in the country a season ago, and return a number of tremendous talents, including Perry Smith Jr., a potential 5-star prospects. Ike Cornish is a transfer from Dulaney who figures to make a big impact for the team.

 

The remainder of the showcase games can be seen below, they feature premiere teams including the likes of Balboa (CA), Bishop McNamara, and Dulaney (MD). The girls showcase brackets include national power Riverdale Baptist.

     

The girls showcase brackets include St. Andrews (RI), Sanford (DE), Wilson (DC), and national power Riverdale Baptist (MD).

The Crusaders boast a number of Division I commits, and should be one of the top overall teams again this season.

The DMVelite Girls Showcase is now in its second season.

 

BRACKET PLAY: The majority of teams see their names called in bracket play. Over 25 local teams draw the opportunity to be bracket champs.

GIRLS BRACKETS: The 2019 girls sections are compromised of nearly 10 local girls teams, who will compete for bracket titles.
