Wildcats comeback to hand Easton first loss of the year

DELMAR, De- The Delmar Wildcats football team scored 5 straight touchdowns on homecoming to down the previously undefeated Easton Warriors 35-21 at Francis E. Nunvar Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Easton quickly went up 21-0 with 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter behind three touchdown passes from quarterback Ryan O’Connor. Delmar would counter with scores from Hunter VonArx and Jaylin Warner before the half to make it a one score game.

The second half started off with a bang for the ‘cats, with TeKwon Dennard taking the opening kickoff 82-yards for the touchdown to tie things up at 21. Delmar would get their first lead of the game when Jacob VonArx found Warner for a 6-yard score early in the fourth quarter. (Jacob) VonArx would seal the game up late in the fourth with a 1-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach. The Wildcats were led on defense by Mark Oakley, who finished the game with two interceptions.
