UMES formally inaugurates 16th university president

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – UMES formally inaugurated its 16th university president Friday — Dr. Heidi Anderson.

During her speech, Anderson touted some partnerships with neighboring colleges including Wor-Wic and Chesapeake.

Anderson noted the highest 6-year graduation rate in two decades, and the ground breaking coming soon on a new $95 Million pharmacy and health science building.

Anderson ended by stressing the importance of campus leaders who can be a guiding voice for its students.

“We need to demonstrate commitment and courage every day in preparing students for their futures as leaders, educators, researchers and active and engaged citizens,” said Anderson during her inaugural address.

Anderson took over for Dr. Juliette B. Bell who stepped down to spend quality time with family.
