The MAC Center wants you to enroll for health insurance
SALISBURY, Md. — This morning Erica Murphy was joined on the desk by Michelle Parker, who is the head/coordinator of the MAC Center’s SHIP Program. SHIP stands for state health and insurance program, and that is what Michelle was here to chat about: state insurance, also known as, medicare.
Michelle tells us they help those who are 65 and older navigate through the maze they call medicare.
She also tells us every Friday, the MAC Center from October 1st to December 7th they have open enrollment that will help.
Michelle tells us that insurance is confusing, especially Medicare. So helping seniors choose insurance and prescription plans that will suit their needs its what they are there to do.
The goal is to reach as many people as possible here on the Lower Shore so those without health insurance can get enrolled.
Michelle also wants people to “age into medicare.” Its a new class the MAC Center is offering, which gives people information on: How does Medicare work? What does it cover? When to apply? They will also cover areas such as medicare fraud and scams.
The great thing about these services are that they are offered for free.
