Snow Hill gets first win in two years, first under HC Deitrick Downing
CHICOTEAGUE, Va.- After going winless in 2018, the Snow Hill Eagles openend the season with the 36-6 win over Chincoteague. The Eagles start the season with a win for the first time since 2010.
It was all Eagles early, taking the opening drive fifty yards and into the end zone, capped off by a one yard QB keeper by Chris Waters. The two point conversion was good so Snow Hill with the 8-0 lead just three minutes in. The Eagles would score 28 unanswered points to end the first half including two from Ira Baine and two others from Darius Dale.
The Ponies finally get on the board as time wound down in the third quarter. After intercepting a pass on defense, Ayden Leonard would score the shut out ending TD, extra point no good.
There were a lot of first for the Eagles tonight:
- First win since 2017 (October 19, 2017 vs Washington)
- First week one win in 9 years (21-9 vs Easton 2010)
- Highest point total since 2012 (46 vs Bennett)
- First win under 2nd year HC Deitrick Downing
Snow Hill will look to move to 2-0 this Friday when they travel to Federalsburg to take on Colonel Richardson.
