Serious crash sends man on bicycle to hospital

FRANKFORD, Del. – A serious early afternoon crash involving a pedal cyclist in Frankford is under investigation by Delaware State Police.
The cyclist, pedaling down Burbage Road, was hit by a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling eastbound shortly after 12:30 PM. Police say the 56 year-old male driver from Frankford did not see the 57-year old man from Frankford riding his bicycle. The man on the bike, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected. He was transferred to the Christina Hospital in critical condition.
The operator of the Cherokee, a 56-year-old male from Frankford, DE was properly restrained. He did not sustain injury and remained on scene.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction and no charges have been filed at this time.
Burbage Road was closed for approximately over two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
