Salisbury homeless shelter looking forward to expansion

SALISBURY, Md. – The nonprofit organization HALO in Salisbury is getting ready for a major expansion.

The nonprofit will be knocking down walls inside the men’s space to add new space for sleeping.

Currently, HALO houses up to 54 men, and the new expansion would allow for 75.

In addition, there will be 5 more showers as well as laundry units for the first time ever.

Construction is expected to start next January, and members of HALO say this project will be huge for the community.

“The reality is, we just love people and so to be able to receive that love and then know that they can have the resources that they need to help them move forward that brings all that, it’s just a good blessing,” said Celeste Savage, the executive director at HALO.

HALO will host an open house on October 13 and will give tours and talk about the nonprofit’s upcoming expansion.
