Newly formed committee may determine future of Seaford 911 Center
SEAFORD, Del. – Tuesday night the Seaford city council voted unanimously approved a committee to examine the pros and cons of keeping the city’s 911 center.
Mayor David Genshaw tells 47 ABC the committee is a complete representation of Seaford.
Genshaw says the committee has members from the religious community, the school district, hospital, chamber of commerce and from fire and police dispatch.
Their task now will be to determine whether the services they get now from the 911 center are better than what they would receive from the county. If they determine the services are better, the committee will then be tasked with finding revenue streams to pay for it.
Ultimately, the committee will have to submit their findings to the council who will then vote to determine a course of action going forward.
