Md. man sending scrolls to deployed troops
SALISBURY, Md. – It may only be September, but one man is already thinking ahead to Christmas, and he’s making sure our troops feel loved and appreciated during the holiday.
George Jackson spent his day inside the Centre at Salisbury on Thursday, where he sat with five different scrolls, one for each branch of the military.
Anyone was welcome to stop by and leave a message on the scrolls for those who are deployed.
The scrolls will be sent out late November and will reach troops by Christmas.
Jackson says he’s been doing this for over two decades, and it’s just something that he feels like he needs to do.
“They’re a morale booster, that’s the goal, they boost morale,” Jackson said. “Let the guys know over there know that back at home we are thinking about them. Whether or not they get to read newspapers or not when they see these on the walls they say, ‘wow somebody loves me back home.'”
Jackson tells 47 ABC that he has no plans on stopping the scroll signings anytime soon.
