Locals fundraising for mobile shower trailer to help homeless

SALISBURY, Md. – A local non-profit is hoping to give back to the community with a new mobile shower trailer.

The non-profit Beyond Your Walls is trying to raise $35,000 to buy a shower trailer for the Salisbury area and they’ve already raised almost $9,000. Advocates say a portion of the local homeless community doesn’t have access to showers, which can make it harder for them to get back on their feet or even get a job. Organizers tell 47 ABC a mobile shower trailer would also benefit businesses because some people end up using store bathrooms to wash themselves.

“A lot of the homeless community are going into local businesses whether it’s gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants. They’re using the restrooms to bathe. They’re washing in the sinks,” says Leslie McGinnity, a co-founder of Beyond Your Walls.
