Local arborists volunteer to clean up veteran cemetery for day of service

MILLSBORO, Del. – the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery got a nice little makeover Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, four different tree companies in Sussex County volunteered to clean up the trees, gravesites, and greenery on the cemetery, which was all part of an initiative called ‘Saluting Branches’. Officials say the nationwide event is a way to support troops by helping to make their final resting places a safe and beautiful environment for all who visit.

“It makes you feel good you know it’s just been a cool day we have four different tree companies here all of which are our competition but we’re all here today again it’s a unified effort and just giving back,” said site leader, Joe Shoup.

Program officials add that this was the first year that the initiative was brought to Delaware.
