Harrington police searching for suspect after shooting

HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect involved in a shooting at the Quality Inn Hotel Monday night.

“We’re just trying to witness statements, any evidence that we have, additional video footage,” said Captain Kenny Brode at the Harrington Police Department.

A surveillance footage provided by the Quality Inn shows the moments before and after the suspect approached his victim and fired a weapon.

In the video you can see the suspect who is about 5 feet tall run away just moments after he attacks his 23-year-old victim.

It is a crime that happened around 9:30, but by the time police got the call they were too late to make an arrest.

“He fled eastbound from the hotel towards Corn Crib Road,” said Brode.

While they were too late to capture the suspect they were not too late to find the victim who was fighting for his life.

“Once he was shot in Harrington, he tried to drive himself to the hospital,” said Brode.

Police say the 23-year-old is expected to recover, but so far, they have yet to find the reason behind the attack.

“Our detectives are investigating to try to determine a motive, but at this point we really don’t know,” said Brode.

Moving forward, police say they are in desperate need of more evidence and tips so that they can track down their shooter.

“If anybody knows anything, saw anything, please contact the Harrington Police Department,” said Brode.

This incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the Harrington Police Department at 302-398-4495.
