Downtown decoration winner to be announced Friday

SALISBURY, Md. – If you’ve driven through Downtown Salisbury lately, you’ve probably seen a lot of purple.

That’s because a few weeks ago, the city challenged businesses to decorate their storefronts in purple to support Wicomico Goes Purple.

Over ten businesses decorated and now on Friday, officials will announce the winner of the challenge.

And while this was a competition, downtown officials tell 47 ABC the decorations were all about raising awareness of addiction, and that goal was definitely met.

“Some people have come in and asked where they can seek help, you know they either have a family member or somebody close to them that needs help, it’s been great, everybody has done a good job and it’s been really really great,” Amy Zaprowski with Downtown Salisbury said.

The winner will be announced on Friday during the Third Friday celebration on the plaza.
