City leaders ask for extension for comprehensive plan
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Rehoboth Beach is busy crafting their comprehensive development plan, but now the planning commission says they’re going to need more time.
The planning commission has asked state officials for a one-year extension on the plan that will be a guiding document for everything the city does for the next decade.
We’re told that there were over 1,000 responses to three surveys sent out by the city; one for the community, businesses, and visitors.
This data was so extensive that the planning commission had a hard time analyzing it at this month’s meeting.
City officials say they want the extension to have more time to craft the important document.
“This is the city’s comprehensive tool for planning and growth, and we want to make sure that all the information is not only included, but the necessary facts are put forward,” said city manager Sharon Lynn.
The planning commission voted unanimously to ask for this extension.
