Cambridge man charged with assault, attempted robbery
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A Cambridge man is behind bars on several charges after an argument turned physical on Monday.
Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2911 Ram Road in Cambridge for a reported assault and robbery in progress. The female victim was located on arrival and found to have facial injuries in and around her eyes. She then told police that 29-year-old Joshua Jorette had started an argument with her, during which he took her phone and destroyed it before beating her in the face and head with his fists. He then reportedly tried to take her purse and car keys.
Police found Jorette in the area a short time later and took him into custody. He was charged with second degree assault, malicious destruction of property under $1,000, attempted robbery, and reckless endangerment, and was held without bond.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that required stitches.
