8-year-old and family host blood drive for kids battling cancer
DELMAR, Md. – One little girl in Delmar is taking big steps to help kids on Delmarva who are battling cancer.
On Sunday, Josie Herbert and her family hosted their second annual Josie’s Jammies Blood Drive.
The 8-year-old was diagnosed with stage IV Wilms tumor back in March 2017.
After going through 33 weeks of treatment, she is now cancer free and is giving back with a blood drive.
People in the community also got the chance to donate pajamas for kids who have to stay in hospitals.
“We just want to give back and thank them what they’ve done for us and the hope that we received, the prayers and the blessings from them,” said Mandy Herbert, Josie’s mother.
The family collected several hundred pajamas on Sunday for kids battling cancer.
