SEAFORD, Del. – Seaford Police arrested seven people on Thursday following an undercover prostitution operation.

Authorities tell us thanks to funding from a violent crime grant, two Seaford officers patrolled the streets for four hours at random times gathering information that led up to this operation.

“These officers were used to gather intelligence and data for us. They did know to arrest wanted individuals, debrief and interview those people and help us get intelligence to get these operations going and underway,” said Master Corpoal Eric Chambers.

Residents we spoke with who wanted to remain off camera commended the work by the police department. We’re told the department will continue to identify problematic areas within the City Limits in hopes of improving the quality of life moving forward.

Chambers said, “working on quality of life issues in Seaford. Whether it be prostitution, street level drug dealing. We want to work on getting rid of that in Seaford. It’s not attractive to Seaford, it’s not going to being residents or businesses.”

Police say this operation was a result of a month long initiative to identify problematic areas within City Limits displaying a high level of quality of life issues. Seaford Police were assisted by the Laurel Police Department, Delaware State Police Troop 5 P.A.C.E. Unit, Delaware State Police Sussex GTF, Delaware State Police SDU, Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, and Delaware State Police Victim Services Unit.
