U.S. Senator, Office of National Drug Control Policy director hosting opioid crisis event

NEWARK, Del. – An event centered around the opioid crisis in Delaware, and being hosted by both local and national leaders, is set to take place at the University of Delaware’s Star Campus in Newark on Thursday, August 22nd.
U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), who is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and co-chair of the Senate Law Enforcement Caucus, and Director James Carroll, head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, are gathering local and national officials to talk about the current status of the opioid crisis in Delaware. The event will be a round table and will begin at 2:30 P.M. and conclude at 4:00 P.M.
According to the press release, the talk will involve families, first responders, law enforcement agencies, and the addiction and recovery communities. The event will go over available federal resources in Delaware, such as the Drug-Free Communities Supports Program and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program. Anyone interested in attending the event can register here, but because seating is limited those who register will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
