U.S. Senator Ben Cardin discusses technical education

WYE MILLS, Md. – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin met with community leaders on Wednesday to discuss ways the state can get more workers trained in technical fields.

The meeting took place at the Chesapeake College in Wye Mills.

At that meeting, U.S. Senator Cardin discussed the importance of providing more opportunities in career-technical education.

The senator says this would help to close the workforce training gap that leaves businesses struggling to find workers on the mid-shore.

The senator adds that it is critical to support workforce development programs in the state while also training future workers.

“We have to make sure that we match the workforce development programs with the needs that are out here and use all the resources we can to get trained workers for job opportunities,” said Cardin.

U.S. Senator Cardin says he hopes to make it easier for the state to get more funding, so they can provide more training for technical workers.
