UPDATE: Identities released in fatal Wicomico River boating accident

8/14 UPDATE: Officials have released the names of the two people who died in a boating accident on the Wicomico River on August 3rd.

The two victims have been identified as 46-year-old Adalberto “Gonzalo” Perez Perez and 37-year-old Juan Carlos Ojeda Damian.

FRUITLAND, Md. – Maryland Natural Resources Police say a boat struck a pier on the Wicomico River on Saturday in an incident that resulted in two deaths.

The incident happened in the area of Safe Harbor Way.

Maryland Natural Resources Police reportedly responded to the river at around 10 PM.

Fire Departments from Salisbury, Fruitland and Allen were also working the water rescue.

According to the Salisbury Fire Department, two people on board the boat died and other individuals were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.

At this time, names are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
