Three Talbot Co. residents awarded for fire rescue efforts
TALBOT CO., Md. – Three people were awarded on Wednesday for their life-saving actions during a fire that happened earlier this month.
Maryland State Fire Marshal Brian Geraci presented the awards to the victim’s grandchildren, 12-year-old Alexander Green and 13-year-old Trevor Green, as well as their neighbor, Donald Broskey. All three put their own safety at risk to save the life of Deborah Cawley during the house fire that caused multiple injuries and resulted in an estimated $325,000 in damages back on August 3rd.
“I am certain that had these gentlemen not responded so quickly to this life-threatening situation, Ms. Cawley would not have survived. Her grandchildren responded with maturity well-beyond their years,” said State Fire Marshal Upper Eastern Regional Office Deputy Chief Caryn McMahon.
