Spanish-speaking community invited to attend Salisbury’s Neighborhood Housing Services event

SALISBURY, Md. — Good Morning Delmarva anchor Erica Murphy sat with Leah Dyson, who is the counseling and education manager at Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services here in Salisbury. Leah was here to talk about an event they will be hosting, which is an educational workshop on September 14, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Church from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

What’s so great about this¬† eight hour class is it is specifically designed for the local Spanish-speaking population. This event is offered all the time but was never geared towards those who only speak Spanish. Leah tells us here at ABC that, “The first 25 people who pre-register will get in for free.”

Leah also explains how she feels that these workshops are a needed service in our community. Recent results of Neighbor Works America’s 2019 National Housing and Financial Capability show that minority families, especially blacks and Hispanics, miss out on opportunities to buy homes due to lack of needed financial planning skills and the knowledge to become homeowners.

Leah adds that This is their first event that will be completely in Spanish. She says, “every attendee gets a first-time home-buyers certificate that gives them access different loan products and grants and down-payment assistance.” So if you’re interested, please make your way to the SNHS Office at 560 Riverside Dr. Suite A102 here in Salisbury to pre-register.

For more information or if you are interested in future educational workshops in home-owning you can visit their website at or you can call them at 410-543-4626.
