Somerset Co. man sentenced for assault

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – A Somerset County jury convinced a man on several charges, including first and second degree assault, last week.

Back on September 16, 2018, officers from the Crisfield Police Department and EMS were called to 13 Somers Cover for a reported stabbing. On arrival, the victim was found bleeding profusely from his upper body, and learned from witnesses that Clarence Nicholson had confronted the victim, went into the kitchen and stabbed him once, and then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to PRMC for treatment, where it was learned that Nicholson had broken the knife in half during the stabbing. The blade was still inside of the victim and had to be surgically removed.

Nicholson was sentenced to twenty years with no time suspended. He also faces a violation of probation hearing later this month, where he could received an additional eleven years.
