Salisbury Jaycees host Super Soapbox Spectacular

SALISBURY, Md. – If you were around the Market Street Parking Garage on Saturday, you may have seen some different sets of wheels rolling around.

Salisbury Jaycees and Boy Scout Troop 185 hosted their 10th annual Super Soapbox Spectacular Derby.

A day where anyone can enter a ride they made themselves, as long as it has a braking system and can make right turns.

Riders cruised through the parking garage to see who could get around the fastest and which wheels were riding the best.

Organizers tell 47 ABC that the event benefits Troop 185 while also bringing some history back into Salisbury.

“It’s a little different, it brought back some of the city’s heritage, it brought back a little of the Jaycee’s heritage, and Boy Scout troops around the country do soap box derbies, so this is a chance for troop 185 to get in on it,” Jason Rhodes, with Salisbury Jaycees, said.

The Super Soapbox Spectacular is an annual event, so anyone interested can get started making their rides for next year’s event.
