Redskins QB battle heating up, team shaping up as preseason nears
RICHMOND, VA- After missing the playoffs for three consecutive seasons, The Washington Redskins have set their focus on returning to the postseason.
Unlike the past three seasons, head coach Jay Gruden has a healthy quarterback competition on his hands. Veterans Case Keenum and Colt McCoy have split first-team reps with rookie Dwayne Haskins all throughout camp. “We’ve given them all an equal shot, lots of reps and they are probably right around equal right now,” said the sixth year head coach.
Quarterback is not the only crowded room near the capital, Washington has four running backs on their camp roster they’ve acquired via the draft, not including future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson. “It’s a deep room and it’s going to be some tough decisions in that room, that’s for sure,” said Gruden.
Fortunately for he and the organization, players will begin to separate themselves as the first preseason game rolls around on Thursday, August 8th, when Washington travels to take on the Cleveland Browns.
