Probation check leads to drug and firearms charges for two

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested two people following a probation check Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2:15 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a probation check on 25-year-old Khalil Hanzer in the 2000 block of Generals Way. Hanzer initially fled out of a rear door but was quickly caught and taken into custody. 26-year-old Tiffiny Melton was also inside the home at the time of the check and was taken in custody.

A search of the residence resulted in the recovery of a 9mm handgun, 23.1 grams of crack cocaine, 468 bags of heroin, ammunition, 9.8 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and $3,628 in drug money.

Hanzer is currently being held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $102,500 bond on a list of charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession with intent to deliver heroin and crack cocaine, second degree conspiracy, resisting arrest, and local fugitive.

Melton was also charged with several drug and firearm related offenses and released on $57,200 unsecured bond.
