Man shot during fight in Dover, police investigating

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say they are trying to figure out how a fight on Saturday night escalated and ended with a man being shot.

According to officials, police were called to Kent General Hospital around 9:25 p.m. after a man was dropped off with a gunshot wound to the hip. The 41-year-old victim told police that he was shot when a group of people started fight in the area of S. New Street and Reed Street, right next to the Dover Fire Department. He did not give police any other information about the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online. A cash reward of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to an arrest.
