Local woman celebrates 100th birthday

SALISBURY, Md. -There was a big celebration for one special woman and her century-long life on Saturday.

Dozens of people celebrated Lorraine Carrigan’s 100th birthday today at Union United Methodist Church.

Friends, family, officials, and church members all came to pray, eat, and share their love for Carrigan.

Her birthday was on Friday, but friends and family surprised her with the big celebration on Saturday, something she says she did not expect.

“It’s made me appreciate the life that I’ve already had, and hope to continue, and that the Lord’s blessed me with it, that all these people love me enough to come out here tonight and celebrate with me,” Carrigan said.

When asked what her secret to life is, Carrigan said “mind your own business. That’s it.”
