Iraq, Afghanistan War veteran preps to participate in Tunnel to Towers

LEWES, Del. – We are just hours away from the second annual Tunnel to Towers 5K.

One of those participating in the race tomorrow is Corporal Chris Levi, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

While in Iraq, Levi’s Humvee was hit by an improvised explosive device, leaving him a bilateral amputee.

Levi, who is from Long Island, first came to Delmarva thanks to Operation Seas The Day in Bethany Beach, and was contacted for the 5K, which honors the first responder, military and gold star family communities.

“When you see the people that have the opportunity to help, and you see the people who have the need for help, and the people who are in there meeting them in the middle, you get a chance to be the face for them… you can’t ask for a better opportunity,” Levi said.

The second Tunnel To Towers 5K will begin tomorrow morning at 7 AM. You can still register to participate, day-of registration begins at 6 AM.
