Hit and run suspect arrested in Sussex County

ELLENDALE, Del. – Police in Delaware have arrested a man they say was intoxicated when he fled the scene of an accident he caused while driving too fast.

Ellendale resident Charles S. Kifer was arrested shortly before 10 A.M. on Saturday August 10th by Ellendale Police when they discovered the 25-year-old was wanted on a capias for failure to appear for his preliminary hearing on several serious charges.

Police say that on Thursday, August 1st Kifer was speeding in a stolen car while driving under the influence of alcohol on a suspended license when he failed to remain in lane and caused an accident. According to the report Kifer not only failed to report the accident, but also made terroristic threats, committed an assault, and fled the scene.

The 25-year-old was taken to the Justice of the Peace Court #3 in Georgetown and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on $2,500 Secured Bail.
