Delaware addresses Long Neck traffic problems
LONG NECK, Del. – Tuesday night Senator Brian Petty John and Representative Ruth Briggs King held a community safety meeting to address traffic safety concerns in the Long Neck area.
The legislators were joined by troopers from the Delaware State Police who shared traffic statistics with the crowd and DelDot, who shared their upcoming plans.
Among DelDot’s plans, they say they will be lowering the speed limit from 50 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour in four areas. On Mount Joy Road between Route 24 and Doc Frame Road, on Zoar Road between Speedway Road and Hollyville Road, on Harmons Road between Hollyville Road and Hollymount Road
and, on the entire Hollyville Road/ Hollymount road corridor.
Sen. Pettyjohn said part of the motivation for having the meeting was to keep residents up to date with what’s going on and to listen to their concerns.
“You give people enough information and they’re more comfortable with what’s going on, as long as they know that there’s a plan,” Pettyjohn said.
