Del. man arrested following road rage incident

MILTON, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Clayton man following a road rage incident that happened earlier this week.

Troopers were called to the area of southbound Coastal Highway and Broadkill Road just before 6 p.m. Wednesday for a reported road rage incident. Investigation revealed that three 17-year-olds were traveling on Coastal Highway when 30-year-old Russell Zern Jr nearly cut them off while driving a motorcycle. When both vehicles stopped at a red light at the intersection, Zern pulled up to the passenger side and pulled out a handgun, verbally yelling at the passengers. Zern also spit on the vehicle and ripped the gas cap off before fleeing the area.

Zern was identified as the suspect following further investigation, and on Thursday Zern turned himself in at Troop 7. He was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal mischief. He was later released on $20,600 unsecured bond.
