Barricade situation ends with surrender to Delaware State Police

DOVER, Del. – An armed man, who barricaded himself in his Dover home Saturday morning, has surrendered to Delaware State Police.

Glenn Klebart, a 49-year old Dover resident, had made suicidal statements to his wife, and was known to be in possession of a handgun. Delaware State Police arrived on scene to the home on the 2000 block of General’s Way shortly after 10 AM.

After Troopers arrived and set up a perimeter around the residence, Klebart allegedly fired multiple rounds from inside the home, striking an unoccupied, parked vehicle. Police tell us these shots were fired at the vehicle, and not intended for an individual.

Initial contact was made, thanks to a combined effort between the Troopers from Troop 3, and members of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT).

Klebart surrendered to police at approximately 11:43 AM.

He was then transported to a local area hospital for an evaluation. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident.

This case remains under investigation with charges forthcoming.
