Two teens arrested, one wanted in connection to vehicle chase
HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police say two teens were arrested and one is still wanted following a police chase involving a stolen vehicle late Saturday night.
Just before 11:30 p.m., officers were conducting traffic enforcement on S. DuPont Highway in the area of Shaw Avenue when a registration check on a vehicle revealed that it was reported stolen by Delaware State Police. An officer then attempted to stop the vehicle but instead a pursuit ensued after the vehicle failed to stop.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Andrews Lake Road after police used stop sticks on the vehicle’s tires. All three occupants of the vehicle subsequently fled on foot. One of the passengers, a 15-year-old male from Dover, was taken into custody a short time later. Further investigation led police to identify the other passenger, a 16-year-old male from Dover, who turned himself into police later that night. Both teens were charged with receiving stolen property, conspiracy third degree, and resisting arrest, and were released to the custody of their parents.
Police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle and are asking anyone with information to contact Harrington Police at 302-398-4493 ext. 41 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
