Serious motorcycle accident, driver charged
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police say a man is facing DUI charges after he was involved in a motorcycle crash on Friday night.
Investigators say the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Plantation Road, northwest of John J. Williams Highway. Robert Willoughby was apparently driving a motorcycle, on the shoulder of Plantation Road, with a 58-year-old female passenger on the back. That’s when a man, driving an SUV, turned left and crashed into the motorcycle. Willoughby and the motorcycle passenger were ejected. They were both taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.
Charges against Willoughby include passing on the right, vehicular assault 2nd degree and driving under the influence. The SUV driver was not hurt in the accident.
