Serious crash in Georgetown under investigation
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious crash involving a passenger car and Box truck in Georgetown.
According to preliminary investigation, shortly before 10:30 a.m., a 2011 Nissan Altima failed to yield right of way while traveling on northbound DuPont Boulevard (Route 113) northwest of Governor Stockley Road. As a result, a Box truck struck the Nissan and a utility pole was struck.
The driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old male from Georgetown, was taken by Delaware State Police helicopter to Beebe Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Box truck, a 51-year-old male, was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Route 113 in the area is currently shut down and traffic is being detoured to East Piney Grove Road. Drivers should expect delays and find alternate routes of travel if possible. Delmarva Power is currently on scene working on the utility pole.
