Rain didn’t stop the fun at the Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del. – Tuesday’s rain didn’t stop thousands of people from enjoying all that the Delaware State Fair has to offer.

Fair goers still enjoyed fun rides, games and fair food all while getting a little wet.

Patrice Hammond said, “I was like, ‘We’re going in the rain, that’s cool, it won’t be as hot!'”

Zaria Menoza said, “I think it’s fun!”

William Bramble added, “I love the rain.”

Fairgoers were well prepared to handle the rain on Tuesday.

Abby Bramble said, “I have a poncho.”

Her friend Remi Juvennelliano said, “I brought an umbrella.”

Andrea Spence said, “We have ponchos!”

Many say the rain was a welcome relief from all the recent heat.

Hammond said, “It feels good because its been so hot lately, I love it.”

Danny Aguilar, the General Manager of the Fair said, “Its brought the welcomed cooled temperatures, so we’re pretty excited about that.”

Luckily, there’s still plenty to do at the fair when it rains.

Aguilar said, “We’ve got an afternoon circus show, we’ve got great exhibits, you can do amazing shopping and just take in all the amazing activities at the DNREC and DDA building.”

Many chose to spend their day in the animal exhibits.

Juvennelliano said, “[My friend] told me on the way here that there were cows and chickens, so I lost my mind in the car.”

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s weather did effect some of the rides.

Aguilar said, “There’s a couple rides that will be possibly impacted. Ride safety is first and foremost, so those rides will be shut down temporarily until they deem it to be safe.”

Luckily, most rides remained open to fair goers.

Perhaps all of this just goes to show that rain or shine, Delawareans are committed to making the most out of their time at the fair.
