Pygmy Goat Show returns to Delaware State Fair
HARRINGTON, Del. – It was a beautiful day at the Delaware State Fair on Monday for the annual Pygmy Goat Show!
Pygmy goats are known for their potbelly look and big personalities.
Each year, competitors spend hours making sure their goats are washed and clipped up so they can look nice for the judges. They also spend a significant amount of time walking their goats around to make sure that they act obedient during the show.
For many people, competing in this event is a family tradition.
Sondra Satterfield, a competitor said, “Well this is seventeen years that we’ve been showing, and my mom was a couple of years before that and she was among the first to bring pygmy goats here.”
If you love goats, and you want to see them in action, there will be a goat milking competition on Wednesday night at 5:30, and a meat goat breed show on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the New Castle Building.
