PRMC affiliating with Seaford’s Nanticoke Hospital
SEAFORD, Del. – Salisbury’s Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Seaford’s Nanticoke Hospital announced on Thursday that they are officially joining forces.
The two health care systems signed a definitive agreement. This means that PRMC will soon be responsible for providing services at the Seaford hospital. Officials tell 47 ABC, that the landscape around health care has been changing over the last 10 years when it comes to reimbursements and offering population health. So Nanticoke was looking for a system that could help them, financially, keep up with those changes.
“We just haven’t had those capital funds to help us grow. And that’s really what Peninsula is going to be able to offer us. That opportunity to grow our business. And what’s kind of cool is they are right next door so we can do all those things together,” says Steven Rose, the President & CEO of Nanticoke Health Services.
“One of our goals is that Sussex county is a rapidly growing county. And we want to figure out together how do we best support those needs. I think there will be opportunities to add services to Nanticoke so that people can stay closer to home when receiving care,” says Steven Leonard, President & CEO of Peninsula Regional Health System.
No immediate staffing changes are expected at Nanticoke.
This comes after PRMC just signed an agreement with Crisfield’s McCready Hospital. Both deals are expected to close at the end of the calendar year. So PRMC, Nanticoke and McCready will keep their respective names but they will be under a new umbrella health care system.
