Police: man arrested for pointing gun at driver in car wash line

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a Harrington man Friday afternoon after he allegedly pulled out a gun on another driver in line at a local car wash.

According to police, the incident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. at the West Side Car Wash located at 805 Forest Avenue in Dover. After obtaining surveillance footage it was learned that 68-year-old Joseph Rivard got out of his car while in line and confronted the driver in the vehicle ahead of him, claiming that he believed that car took his place in line. Rivard then reportedly took a revolver out of his vehicle and aimed it at the victim while refusing to let him leave his vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Rivard was intoxicated at the time of the incident. He was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated menacing, possession of firearm by person prohibited (intoxicated), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, disorderly conduct, and DUI. He was later released on his on recognizance.
