Pedestrian-involved crash under investigation in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian in Wicomico County.

According to police, the incident happened at around 9 p.m. Monday, in the area of northbound Route 13 north of Naylor Mill Road. On arrival, troopers learned that a 75-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Route 13 when she was struck by a Mercedez Benz being driven by 33-year-old Aisha Batool of Salisbury. The Mercedes was then struck by a Toyota Camry driven by 70-year-old Joseph Veitz Jr. of Hampton, VA.

The pedestrian, identified as 75-year-old Lela Daehnke, was taken to PRMC for treatment and was later transferred to Christiana Hospital in Wilmington.

The crash remains under investigation.
