New voting machines showcased at Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del. – This week, Delawareans will have the chance to test out some new technology at the State Fair.

Delaware’s new voting machines are on display in the Delaware Tent.

The machines are completely touch screen, meaning you won’t need to bring a pen with you next time you vote.

People at the fair can test out the new technology by filling out a few simple questions like what you favorite ice cream flavor is and who your favorite super hero is to get a sense of how the technology works.

We’re told the Department of Elections decided the State Fair would be the perfect place to display the technology since so many people will be making their way to the fairgrounds this week.

Ken McDowell with the Sussex County Department of Elections said, “Well we’re going to have over 300,000 people out at the Delaware State Fair and I just happened to be on the Fair Board. It’s a lot of people so it’s the biggest chance in Delaware to show them, and we thought we ought to bring them here. They’ll be here next year too so if you missed them this year, come back next year.”

We’re told Delaware had some of the oldest voting machines in the country, so this new technology is a welcome change.
