Morris Mill Dam Construction Resumes

SALISBURY, Md. – After a minor delay, construction on the dam started back up this afternoon.

Officials tell 47 ABC that the delay came after plans had to be redone and reapproved after workers on the ground were experiencing some trouble with the mud in the area.

And because of the layout and structure of the dam, officials tell 47 ABC that any changes made can cause a delay in construction.

“Because this is what’s considered a high hazard dam, the Department of the Environment takes a very close look at everything that’s done, so anytime we make a change it has to go back to the department of environment for approval,” Dallas Baker, Director of Wicomico County Public Works, said.

Construction on the dam is expected to be completed sometime late fall.
