McIver in, Whitehead out

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. –  Wicomico County has some developing news regarding the vacant District 2 Council Seat.  Wicomico County Republican Central Committee President Mark McIver will now throw his name in the ring after Austin Whitehead asked to be removed from consideration for the position earlier today.  McIver has been involved in local politics since 1990 and will join Julie Brewington, Nicole Acle, and Joe Collins on the list of names the central committee is submitting for the vacant seat.

Last week the council was unable to come to a consensus on a candidate after coming to a 3-3 tie on two of the pre-approved replacements, Joe Collins and Austin Whitehead.  The district 2 seat was vacated this June after former councilman Mark Kilmer resigned because of his move back to his home state of Idaho to take care of family needs.

The Wicomico County Council is expected to make a decision on the candidates on July 29th at 6:30 during a special legislative session.
