Local church hosts 30th annual Greek Festival
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The 30th Annual Greek Festival in Ocean City is wrapping up on Sunday night.
The Festival is put on each year by the local Greek Orthodox Church St. George. Organizers say it’s mostly a food festival with authentic traditional dishes like casseroles, spinach pies and pastries. There are also vendors, music and dancers at the festival. Organizers say it’s an annual event that brings everyone together.
“This is like the Greek reunion hub. It brings all the Greek people together. They might have gone to Sunday School together or grew up in parishes together or they are related. And when you’re at the beach you can combine both so it’s the best atmosphere for reunion type things and family reunions too,” says Alexandra Hall, who helps with promotions for the festival.
The festival helps raise money for St. George to help pay for ongoing expenses to keep the church open and help with outreach. The festival wraps up at 9 p.m. at the Ocean City Convention Center.
