Lightning strikes cause three fires in Sussex Co.

SUSSEX CO., Del. – Delaware State fire officials say they responded to three fires Wednesday night that were determined to be the result of lightning strikes.

Officials say two houses caught on fire in the 32000 block of Woods Court, east of Millsboro, resulting in an estimated $15,000 in damage to each home. A third lightning strike caused an estimated $25,000 in damage in the 32000 block of Mount Pleasant Road near Laurel.

No injuries were reported as a result of these fires. State fire investigators from the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to all three fires.
