Lewes celebration brings people from all across country

LEWES, Del. – People from all across the country came right here to Lewes to celebrate America’s birthday and take in the history of Delaware.

“First city in the first state, very excited to be here,” John Moglia, from New Jersey, said.

And they weren’t disappointed. With a pie eating contest, a sack race, and more, there was plenty to keep everyone busy. But there was one event in particular that was, arguably, most popular.

“[I was] rocking the egg toss, a little bit of pressure for me, but it was okay, we had fun, not everybody can win,” Moglia said.

And while some look forward to this event every single year, Thursday’s celebration marked a big first for others.

“It is really fun, it’s obviously her first fourth of July, so it’s a special holiday this year,” Stewi Corno, from D.C., said.
